Time to be Inspired

I've been so busy lately my head feels like it's going to explode! I decided to look for some home inspiration to ease my mind. Getting "away" seems to be the perfect solution. I've been thinking a lot about my home office. I have a few ideas flowing through my head, I just need to execute! Here are some great images of offices that I can pull inspiration from.

I love the storage space in this room. I've been thinking of ways to incorporate more storage in my office. I definitely can't go this extravagant, but sure would be nice!

Who couldn't love this confined, cute, cozy space? The ladder has stolen my heart! Old vintage ladders look great anywhere. I love the cork focal point, everything seems so simple and charming.

I love the desk style and wicker accent baskets in this space.

This space also has some nice built ins. I especially love how they used their cork board as their "art" piece.

I'm definitely stealing a couple ideas from this space! I love the wire basket storage for fabrics! Everything is so neat and tidy. They have a nice combination of storage units an shelves.

I have one craft for my office I'd like to complete this weekend, but I'll need the help of my hubby to complete! Wish me luck with that! Be inspired and create!

Lets make a mirror

Happy Memorial Day to all! The past few days have been filled with BBQ's and lots of sun. Today I took some time to get in a small project. I have a mirror idea that will probably take a good half a day to DIY, but I thought I would start on a small scale. I decided to take a stab at a small kitchen mirror. It is super easy and quick! Lets get started!

You will need:
Mirror
Frame
Contact Paper
Acrylic Paint
Spray Paint
Box Knife
Pencil
Ruler
Cutting Mat

I got most of my supplies from Hobby Lobby. I bought a blank wooden frame and mirror panel from the craft department and found this great contact paper from T.J. MAXX. I already had the rest of my supplies. I used the 40% off coupon from Hobby Lobby on both the frame and mirror panel.

Since the frame has a beveled edge you will need to choose a paint color and paint around the edges. I chose gold. I put a first coat of acrylic paint and then finished it off with spray paint.

Once your edges are dry it's time cut, fit and place your contact paper.

Since the frame has beveled edges you can not just lay the frame face down on the contact paper and cut. You will need to use your ruler or the ruler on the backside of your contact paper and cut out the approximate size of your flat framed surface.

Draw guidelines on the backside of your contact paper. When you are ready use your box knife to cut out your contact paper.

Now you are ready to place it on the front side of your frame. You may need an extra hand for this. You may have a few air bubbles, and that is ok. You can smooth them out after your initial placement. The contact paper is pretty easy to work with.

After you have placed it, use your box knife to cut out the center of the frame.

Now place your mirror.

There you have it! Eventually I may use some small trim and trim around the mirror, but for now this works!

Be inspired and create!

Re-Decorating

It's time to decorate! I recently found a great accent pillow at TJ MAXX. It is going to be my road map for redecorating my house. I love the pillow because it incorporates a variety of colors. It has lime, blue, mustard, red, khaki, brown, cream and even pink! Now I'm on the hunt for pattern and print ideas! I've searched a bit online and here is what I have come up with so far!

Pillows
I found lots of ideas for potential pillow patterns. Most of these are a little above my budget so from here I need to locate some fabric. For now lets look at some options.

I think I want a simple geometric pattern like these pictured above. I want something light, our floors are dark, so I need something to soften up the room.

On the other hand, I love this large floral print! It's still light, but a bit more conversational.

Drapes
I'm pretty positive I want striped drapes. I just need to decide on a colorway.

Coffee Table
I've been wanting an old worn wooden coffee table, but these two options are too shabby. I especially love the trunk!

Crafts To-Do!

Like I've mentioned before I have a long list of DIY projects. For some of them I still need to purchase the Cameo, but hoping I can win the one Pink by Design is giving away! I actually have bits and pieces of supplies bought for a few projects, just need to take the time to complete them. Lets see what I've got going on.

The To-Do List

1. Garden Signs

From: The Common Sign on Etsy

My husband has planted a massive garden and he's been working so hard on it. What is my contribution you may ask? Decorating it of course! I have an idea in my head of what I'm going to do I just need to do it. The general idea is to make signs that label each food item, like the ones above.

2. Necklace Holder

I'm running out of hanging space for my necklaces, so I thought this would be a cute way to organize them. I have the knobs bought, just need a piece of wood.

3. Bathroom Ladder

I have had this on my to-do list forever! I've asked my husband to help me make an old distressed ladder for our bathroom to hang hand towels. This needs to be ASAP, I'm ready for it!

4. Coasters

Yes, I want to make some fun colorful coasters! I love fun decorative touches.

5. Fold over Leather Clutch

From: Pink Leather Clutch on Etsy

I'm determined to make my very own fold over leather clutch! Not sure what color, but definitely using a fun colored zipper.

6. Assorted Bracelets

From: Delias
I want to make my own layering bracelets. I have a few techniques to try, just need to get into action. Fun nails and layering wrist wear very trendy right now.

These are only a few things from my list, but as you can see I've got ideas for miles! Hopefully I can mark one of them off this weekend! Be inspired and create!
